Man and woman charged with assault on Garden Hill First Nation: Manitoba RCMP – Winnipeg

A man and a woman face charges after a man was assaulted in Garden Hill First Nation in Manitoba.

Island Lake RCMP were called to a home in the community, about 475 kilometers northeast of Winnipeg, around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, where they say officers learned a 56-year-old man had already was sent to the nursing station with serious injuries. .

The victim was eventually airlifted to a hospital in Winnipeg.

Police have not said what led to the assault, or how the man was assaulted.

In a statement released Wednesday, investigators said they had identified two suspects.

A 39-year-old woman faces an assault charge while a 36-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and two counts of disobeying.

The woman was released on a promise to appear in court while the suspect remains in custody.

Local RCMP continue to investigate.
