London-based crew Dry Cleaning has followed up its career-launching debut New Long Leg with Stumpwork.
Released in the UK in late Oct., buzz is building around the sophomore effort from lead singer Florence Shaw, drummer Nick Buxton, guitarist Tom Dowse and bassist Lewis Maynard. With the album’s release, the group is embarking on a North American tour that sees it land in Vancouver at the Rickshaw Theatre on Jan. 17.
Songs such as Kwenchy Kups, Don’t Press Me and the title track draw upon the indie rock/pop sound of the debut as well as adding in some more of the psychedelic and progressive rock influences that appear to be the thing in UK post punk for 2023. Diving into difficult subject matter ranging from family dynamics to politics, self-loathing to love, the 11 song album is crackling with energy.
