He said this on the air of the telethon, answering questions about the physical and moral and psychological state of the released Ukrainian defenders, writes UNIAN.
According to Lubinets, many of the released have health problems.
“The boys said that they were kept in terrible conditions. Very little food was provided to them. Not once did they see representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross. There was a limited amount of water. And they didn’t give personal hygiene products,” noted Lubinets.
He added that the leadership and famous fighters of the “Azov” regiment were kept in solitary confinement.
“Yesterday I spoke with guys who said that they had been in solitary confinement for more than 120 days. One could not even communicate. He said that “I need some time to remember what it’s like to communicate with people, because I was generally alone,” the ombudsman said.
He concluded that the fighters need medical assistance.
“As for the psychological state, I can say here: nothing has worked in the Russian Federation – to break, to break… I did not see a single one of our servicemen who was broken. Everyone saw that they were already at home, everyone smiled, everyone thanked,” Lubinets said.
He emphasized that the captured soldiers were tortured.
We will remind that on September 21, 215 defenders of Ukraine were returned from Russian captivity.
