After the Armed Forces of Ukraine gain a strategic advantage in the Kherson region, the Ukrainian army will create the prerequisites for a general victory.
The commander of the Kherson operational group, Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapaty, said about the situation in the southern direction.
“Mykolaiv is an outpost of Southern Ukraine, which the occupiers tried unsuccessfully to storm. At the beginning of March 2022, local volunteers and the military gave a worthy rebuff to the invaders. The successful defense of Mykolaiv was possible thanks to clear communication with communities and villages, whose residents promptly informed the military about the movement of enemy equipment. Their actions prevented the enemy’s plans to seize the South Ukrainian NPP and force the Southern Bug and start an offensive on Odesa,” he said.
The general recalled that already in November, the Armed Forces, together with other Defense Forces, liberated Kherson and the rest of the settlements of the right-bank part of the region from the Russian occupation forces.
“Newly created brigades of the TrO Forces and partisan movements played a significant role in this, which ensured the security of their regions: Mykolayiv Oblast, Odesa Oblast, Kirovohrad Oblast, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Today, with the arrival of foreign aid and weapons, our country not only continues to hold back the Russian offensive, but is also preparing to turn the tide war.
