It could be a costly day in the big city for a Hamilton-area man who Toronto police have charged with assaulting a parking attendant.

The Toronto Police Service said its officers responded to a call for an assault near 1558 Eglinton Ave. W. which launched just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. They allege that

  • A rush hour parking enforcement officer asked a driver to move;
  • The parking enforcement officer chased with other violating vehicles that committed violations for the posted non-stop rush hour route;
  • The parking attendant returned to the first vehicle and proceeded to write a ticket because the driver had not moved his vehicle;
  • The driver got out of his vehicle and hit the hands of the parking enforcement officer, knocking the ticketing device to the ground
  • The accused remained at the scene until the police arrived.

Shaiyaa Sprackman, 33, of Binbrook, Ontario, was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer.

He was released and has a court date in Toronto on November 4.

Binbrook is a rapidly urbanizing community of approximately 15,000 in southeast Hamilton.
