Welcome to the first weekend of fall, gang! Scarves on the necks, cocoa on the stoves, leaves on the ground. Discussing the weather may seem trivial, but what other conversation topic covers topics that directly impact your life today without risking a disagreement, years of simmering resentment, or a fight? “What are you having for dinner?” is another good one, I think. You might find this tip useful if you’re attending EGX this weekend. Oh, I know another one: what are you playing this weekend? Here’s what we’re clicking on!
is on vacation !
As you can guess from the iridescent praise of my Reviews on Hyper Demon, I’m playing this surprise sequel to Devil Daggers. I’m still banging my face against the wall of death, but I’m slowly improving, and was thrilled when I return the next evening to find that the parts that took conscious effort yesterday are now instinctive . I have to kill God.
trombone champion for the whole weekend. I expect my neighbors to call the police. Seriously, dark haven is free on the Epic Games Store right now, so I’m finally going to give it a try. I hope to have the opportunity to deepen Death Loop too.
I spent much of my vacation with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and it’s been a while since I’ve played such a rewarding game. You’re constantly advancing towards a new system – often ridiculously deep – or a powerful cat boy to add to your ever-expanding roster. I just have a feeling it might slip into my list of “greatest games of all time” if it keeps the momentum going.
As the weekend approaches, the first priority is to catch up on some sleep. Once I’m a bit more rested, I’m going to get back into Demon Souls on the PS5, which I started last week. When I’m inevitably reduced to bloody pulp by a massive boss, I’ll go back to bed, grab a blanket, and cry about why this game is so brutal. Maybe I should choose another game.
No time for games this weekend, unfortunately. Although, since visiting Brighton – the home of RPS, in the legal sense – I can play a game of ‘Graham Says’, in which I fatten myself up in as many Graham-recommended restaurants as eight hours will allow.
I’m at EGX this weekend so I’ve already played a lot of cool new games. I really enjoyed my House Flipper 2 demos and Goat Simulator 3and I hope to pass by the Introversion booth to play The last spaceship before returning home. But first, the 25th anniversary GoldenEye sign What a treat.
is at EGX!
Yesterday I found out that a game called Omega Strikers existed. It’s like air hockey, with heroes and abilities. It was released earlier this week and it’s free. It’s like one of my favorite games of all time, Steel Circus, which tragically collapsed and lost its player base before it started. I played a few Omega Strikers yesterday and it looks pretty good so far! Very chaotic and silly, but also plenty of room for skill-based games between teammates. I like.
I’m pretty busy this weekend but I’m definitely going to make time to argue with some slime slime farmer 2 which has just been released in early access. I loved the first Slime Rancher so I’m pretty excited for this sequel, although with the Ooblets version 1.0 and Disney Valley of Dreams, I am all life-simplified. Not to mention Hokko Life releases next week, aaaaaaaa.
Friday was my first EGX in four years, not to mention my first time as a staff member (my mom is very proud), so this weekend I plan to play a little game called “my first convention payback since the start of the pandemic”. As someone who has had only occasional cautious contact with the rest of the world since March 2020, I expect to be a bit exhausted, to be honest. I would love to claim exciting plans for the sequel, but winding down with must-have comfort games like Animal Crossing and ace lawyer looks more realistic.
But you, dear reader, what are you playing this weekend?
