Big news in the luggage: Ryan Gosling is the face of the new Gucci Valigeria campaign, which centers around its travel gear, and will be seen on billboards popping up across the planet as you read this. Shot by photographer Glen Luchford, Gosling is seen with different pieces from the brand’s “Gucci Savoy” collection. In one image, he pushes a stacked Gucci luggage boy cart, The Darjeeling Limited-style, while sporting a 70s style suit, cinched at the waist; in another, we see him in a Hawaiian shirt from Gucci Spring 2022 collection (worn by Macaulay Culkin on the catwalk, and already seen on Gosling on the red carpet) surrounded by GG-monogrammed suitcases and carry-ons (all of which will be available in stores in due course). Elsewhere, he can be seen sitting in the back of a Chevy in a striped suit and retro skinny tie.
The appointment makes sense. Gosling has long been one of the film industry’s favorite wearers, with a signature style of put together costumes and paired pieces that have taken Cannes film festival and world firsts by storm. Guccimeanwhile, has a knack for tapping out the hottest stars in the world before anyone else (Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, etc). Meanwhile, Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of the brand, said: “Travelling for Gucci has never been purely physical. Gucci is the brand that has accompanied Hollywood artists, writers, actors and directors on their journeys…” And for him, Gosling suits him.
